”I couldn’t throw this pot away because my whole family grew up eating rice from it. And I couldn’t afford to buy a new plant pot.”

said one plant owner. who uses an old rice pot as a plant pot.

There are several reasons for using strange pots for plants.

I borrowed these pots, which were lovingly grown under the eaves of private houses, temples and a sweet shop in the middle of Tokyo, and also from houses in the countryside. They all said “Are you sure you want something like this?”

I have then photographed them.

It seems that men tend to grow trees; women prefer flowers.

Especially in the countryside I noticed the plant’s power to break through the pot whilst growing.
